Cleaning business profit calculator
See what a month of cleaning jobs leaves you after labor, supplies, travel and fixed costs, and how many jobs cover your fixed costs. Use your own prices and costs. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
The boxes start with a worked example. These are not suggested or typical prices; type in your own rates and times.
Fixed costs are what you pay each month whatever the number of jobs: insurance, software, phone, vehicle payments, marketing. If you clean yourself, put the pay you want for your own hours in labor cost, so profit is what the business makes on top. Tax is not included.
How it works
Revenue = jobs × price. Cost per job = hours × labor cost + supplies + travel. Profit = revenue − jobs × cost per job − fixed costs; margin = profit ÷ revenue. Break-even jobs = fixed costs ÷ (price − cost per job).
Worked example (the values above): 60 jobs at $150 bring in $9,000.00. Each job costs 3 × $20 = $60 labor + $6 supplies + $4 travel = $70.00, so 60 jobs cost $4,200.00: $3,600.00 labor, $360.00 supplies and $240.00 travel. With $600.00 of fixed costs the month's costs are $4,800.00 and profit is $4,200.00, a 46.7% margin, or $70.00 per job. Each job contributes $150 − $70 = $80.00 towards fixed costs, so $600 ÷ $80 = 7.5: from the 8th job of the month you are in profit.
